System Requirements

Overview

Matterly needs a modern PHP and MySQL stack. Check these items before running the installer.

Server requirements

Requirement	Minimum
PHP	8.2+
Database	MySQL 8+ or MariaDB 10.6+
Web server	Nginx or Apache, with the document root set to public/
Composer	For deploying from source
Node.js	For building frontend assets (npm run build)
HTTPS	Recommended for production

PHP extensions

BCMath, Ctype, JSON, Mbstring, OpenSSL, PDO, PDO MySQL, Tokenizer, cURL, Fileinfo, XML.

Folder permissions

These paths must be writable by the web server:

• storage/
• bootstrap/cache/

Notes

Note: The web installer re-checks PHP version, extensions, and permissions on the Requirements step.

Best Practices

• Point DNS and TLS at public/ only. Never expose the project root.
• Keep APP_DEBUG=false on production.
• Back up MySQL before upgrades.
