License & Updates
Updated Oct 18, 2026
Quizora asks for your Envato purchase code once, the first time the admin opens the admin panel. After that, new versions install with one click from Admin → Configuration → License & Updates.
Activating your license
- Sign in at
/adminas the admin. - You are taken to the License page (
/license). - Enter your Envato purchase code and a contact email, then click Activate.
That's it. The code is verified with Envato and tied to your domain; from then on the license is checked offline on every request, with a quiet daily background check. If the license server can't be reached, everything keeps working on the stored license for up to 30 days.
Your users are never locked out: Only the admin panel needs a license. Creators, customers, exams, payments and the public site keep working whatever the license state.
The contact email is used only for license and update notices about Quizora. Envato doesn't share buyer emails with authors, so this is the only way we can reach you.
Finding your purchase code
Go to your CodeCanyon Downloads page and click Download → License certificate & purchase code next to Quizora. It looks like xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.
Local and staging sites
A Regular License covers one production domain. These don't use it up (up to 3 per license):
localhost,127.0.0.1and private network addresses- domains ending in
.test,.localor.localhost - a staging subdomain of your licensed domain, e.g.
staging.yourdomain.comonceyourdomain.comis activated
Moving to another domain
On the old site open /license, expand Move this license to another domain, enter your purchase code and click Release this domain. Then activate on the new site. If the old site is already gone, contact support with your purchase code.
One-click updates
When a new version is out, the admin panel shows "Quizora X is available — Update now" (Quizora checks once a day; click Check for updates on the License & Updates page to check right away). Click Update, read what's new, and confirm. It usually takes under a minute:
- The update is downloaded (only activated installs can download it) and its digital signature is checked. Anything not signed by us is refused.
- Every file that will change is backed up to
storage/app/licentra-update/. - The site goes into maintenance mode for a few seconds, only changed files are replaced, and files a release no longer needs are removed.
- Database migrations run, caches are cleared, and the site comes back.
If anything fails, the previous files are put back automatically and the site comes back up.
Never touched by an update: your .env settings, storage/ (uploads, certificates, logs), public/.htaccess, and installed add-on modules and their data. Translations you edited in the Translation Dashboard are kept; new strings from the update are added alongside them.
Back up your database first: Take a database backup from your hosting panel before updating.
From the command line instead:
php artisan licentra:update
If the update page says a file can't be written, the web server user can't modify Quizora's files: fix the ownership (e.g. chown -R www-data:www-data /path/to/quizora) or update manually as described in Installation → Updating Quizora.
Multiple instances from one folder: If you run several instances from one Quizora folder (
QUIZORA_INSTANCE), update from one instance, then runphp artisan migrate --forcefor each of the others with itsQUIZORA_INSTANCEset.
Updates are free for the life of your license — you don't need active support to update.
Add-on modules
The License & Updates page also shows a summary of your installed add-on modules, with a Manage modules link. Add-ons are licensed the same way as Quizora: free add-ons install with your Quizora license, paid ones ask for their own purchase code. See Add-on Modules.
What is sent
| When | Data |
|---|---|
| Activation | Purchase code, the contact email you enter |
| Activation and daily check | Domain, site URL, Quizora version, PHP and Laravel versions, and your server's IP address (seen by the license server) |
Nothing about your creators, customers, quizzes or payments is ever sent. The license server is licentra.pacificsoftwares.com.
Troubleshooting
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| That doesn't look like an Envato purchase code | Copy the full code from your Downloads page, including the dashes. |
| This license is already active on … | Release the old domain first (see Moving to another domain). |
| Could not reach the license server | Your server can't make outgoing HTTPS requests. Ask your host to allow connections to licentra.pacificsoftwares.com on port 443. |
| This license is registered to a different domain | The site was copied to a new domain. Release the old domain and activate again. |
Admin panel keeps sending you to /license |
Make sure storage/ is writable by the web server: the license is saved in storage/app/licentra.json. |
