"500 Server Error" after uploading
Updated Oct 18, 2026
Work through these in order:
- PHP version: the app needs the PHP version listed in the documentation (8.2 or 8.3, depending on the product). Check it in your hosting panel.
- Permissions:
storage/andbootstrap/cache/must be writable by the web server. - Document root: your domain must point at the
public/folder, not the app's root folder. - Clear caches: run
php artisan optimize:clear, or delete the files inbootstrap/cache/except.gitignore. - Read the error: open
storage/logs/laravel.log. The last entry names the real problem. Attach it to a ticket if it isn't clear.
